Welcome to the Anti-Displacement PDX Coalition (ADPDX)

At ADPDX, we believe in human-centered approaches that prioritize the wellbeing of our communities over market forces and profit motives. We firmly believe that people must come before property. Our work centers on seeking out and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, especially Black and Indigenous residents, who have endured displacement throughout the Portland metro area, and Immigrant & Refugee residents who bring perspectives about the impacts of global displacement. While our focus is local, we understand that definitions of community should not be limited by geographic boundaries, as this can further erase the experiences of displaced populations. When people do not have the luxury of choosing where they live, it is our responsibility to meet them where they are at. We are committed to uplifting the needs, stories, and leadership of those most impacted by displacement forces such as gentrification and the housing crisis. Through community organizing, policy advocacy, and public education, the Anti-Displacement PDX Coalition fights to preserve affordable housing, strengthen tenant protections, and promote equitable development that benefits existing residents. We believe in a future where everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home.

About ADPDX

We are a coalition of groups representing the grassroots of Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Immigrants, Refugees, renters, people experiencing houselessness, and working-class people. The Coalition asserts the rights of our community to be in place, to make and shape space, and to be self-determining when it comes to the future of their community. As we work to transform our cities, we will center the voices and needs of those most marginalized— specifically, Black, Indigenous, Queer, Trans and Gender Non-conforming (GNC), Femme, people with disabilities, Houseless, Working Poor, Immigrants, Refugees and Undocumented People.

Core Members: Imagine Black, Black Community of Portland (BCP), Portland Harbor Community Coalition (PHCC), & Unite Oregon

General Members: Sisters of the Road, APANO, & Jobs with Justice

Ongoing Student Collaborations

We would not be able to do the work we do without the passionate students and professors who regularly collaborate with the Coalition. These partnerships provide valuable hands-on experience for the next generation of housing justice advocates, while also advancing our mission. Check out our "Get Involved” page for more information about our student collaborations.

Membership

Our Coalition is structured into tiers of membership so that organizations with different capacities, resources, and issue focus areas can be a part of the Coalition in a manner that works toward their strengths. Members then will be able to join different Committees that serve to advance the collective interests of the Coalition.
